Windjammers

Windjammers is a Canadian pops Windjammers wind ensemble based in southern Ontario. Founded in 1993, it brings together more than forty professional-level and advanced amateur musicians to perform entertaining, largely popular and film-based repertoire in a symphonic wind-band format. The group is often billed as “Canada’s Premier Pops Wind Ensemble.”

Charles Cozens, conductor

Charles Cozens is a Canadian conductor, arranger, composer, and pianist celebrated for his wide-ranging contributions to symphonic and popular music. He has built a career at the intersection of classical, jazz, and crossover performance, earning recognition as one of Canada’s most versatile musical figures

.Legendary in the industry, he is well known for creating compelling symphony shows, featuring his arrangements for full orchestra, performed by artists such as Sir Elton John, Randy Bachman, The Canadian Tenors, The Nylons, Mark Masri, Michael Danso, Bending The Bows and Quartetto Gelato to name a few.

With over 150 CD recordings to his credit as a composer, arranger, performer, conductor and producer, he was recognized by the International Conductors Guild in 2007 as a leading expert on orchestral conducting in the recording environment. His lecture to the guild was subsequently recorded and published by Podium News.

Windjammers operates as a volunteer-driven ensemble: the players are largely unpaid but auditioned, experienced musicians, and the group has a board and sponsorship structure to support operations and outreach. Over the decades, it has raised significant funds for causes such as disaster relief and military family support, positioning the ensemble as both an artistic and philanthropic presence in its region.
